Bypass the Windows XP Log-on screen.
 
If you have only one account on your computer, you can bypass the friendly log-in screen where you click on your icon:
  1. Click [Start] [Run] and type "control userpasswords2" then click [Ok]
  2. The "User Accounts" property screen shows.
  3. Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this ocmputer" checkbox.
  4. Enter a user name and the current password for that user when the dialog appears. Click [Ok]
  5. Click [Start] [Control panel]
  6. Open "User Accounts" -> "Change the way users log on and off".
  7. Uncheck "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast user Switching"

Configuring Windows to use NIST Time Servers

This process will configure Windows to syncronize its clock with the time servers at NIST.

1. Open a command prompt (start->run->cmd)
2. If you want to determine your current time server, type net time /querysntp
3. Find the server nearest you in the list above and use it here:  net time /setsntp:time.nist.gov 
4. Restart your time service net stop w32time and then net start w32time or restart Windows.
5. To restore the default settings, enter net time /setsntp.
